Introduction

Now more than ever, discerning clients know that to get the job done properly, you'll require the services of a creative professional who is committed to exceeding your goals and expectations. I love my work and the personal interaction I enjoy with my customers is an enormous privilege. Fanning your event into blazing life and ensuring that the memories remain long after the gig has been completed is what I do. Remember laughter is the greatest gift you can give to someone who is important to you, but with the large and diverse range of guests one encounters at your run of the mill event, a seasoned practitioner is always your best bet.

The run to yet another Christmas will conclude what has been a busy and remarkable year, in fact the most heavily booked of my 24 years in the business of corporate comedy. Engagements already locked in include; the Australian Property Institute Dinner at Customs House in Brisbane, the Real Estate Institute Awards in Canberra and the inaugural Mining Ball for the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy at the Brisbane Convention Centre. I'm also appearing in the Brisbane season of Ray Cooney's English bedroom comedy "Run For Your Wife" in October-November. I can't wait to tread the boards again after beginning my career with the Queensland Theatre Company back in 1981.

Recent corporate successes include my invitation to provide the entertainment at Queensland Premier Peter Beattie's 50th birthday party for a 50-strong gathering of big name guests, and another half century celebration, for well known Brisbane business identity Steve Wilson, at his beautiful Barambah Station property near Kingaroy. It was an extravaganza in every sense of the word, highlighted by the appearance of Joh and Flo Bjelke-Peterson (yours truly and well known Brisbane actor Karen Crone) who sang, danced and literally brought down the house.

Here is a letter I received from Steve after the event:

Mr Steven M. Wilson
Managing Director
Wilson HTM

Dear Steve

On behalf of Jane and I, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart and belly for a fantastic party at Barambah on 16 October.

Who would have thought that 250 people could be so fabulously entertained for 10 1/2 hours of continual action. The balance between this action and quieter times was just right and all of the input you gave us about the format of the day and of course the acts themselves including your sensational Jo and Flo routine was spot on.

I have received countless notes from people thanking us for the party and generally everyone says it was the best they had ever been to.

From my perspective it was a wonderful day and something to savour forever. It was great you were able to take the pressure of us as organisers and allow us to enjoy the day so much.

I look forward to catching up with you over a drink or two to reminisce and enjoy more.

Kind regards

Steven M. Wilson.

At Peter Beattie's 50th, my appearance was actually a gift to the Premier from leading academic entrepreneur Sarina Russo, who I had “roasted” at her Young President's Organization send-off dinner in 2001. After Premier Pete's night, I was booked to perform at her Staff Awards Night for 300 guests at the Brisbane Convention Centre.

How's this for a follow up letter from a happy punter ...

Hi Steve,

On behalf of the Sarina Russo Group, I would like to personally thank you for accepting to role as MC of our best Christmas Awards Celebration ever! ... How can we ever forget the 2002 evening at the convention centre. You did a fantastic and humorous job! ... there is no one better than you out there!

Your presentation began with a send-up of me, my family and then Management and staff ... and had the crowd absolutely in laughter!

Love you heaps ... and thanks for everything you have done; the Premier's 50th party; the launch; and the Christmas Awards!

I just love you as a friend - and a working partner!

Thanks.

Sarina.

I look forward to working with you soon.
